Congratulations to Rachel Bannert and Michael O’ Brien, students at Coram Deo Academy, were selected as National Merit Semifinalists for 2010. Ms. Bannert and Mr. O’Brien were two of the approximately 16,000 semifinalist in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

     The Coram Deo Lady Lions Softball Team completed a six-game, two-day demolition of 14 area teams, with a tournament clinching 20-0 victory over the Lady Saints of Carrollton Christian Academy.

   Two Coram Deo Academy High School of Flower Mound students, Marian Rogers and Rachel Synan, have been named National Merit Semifinalists. They are in the top 1% of students taking the exam and join 16,000 others continuing in the competition for some 8,200 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $35 million, that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. Rebecca Musgrove was named a Commended Scholar, and is in the top 5 % of students taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT /National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

When Congressman Michael Burgess recently announced his class of 2012 United States Service Academies nominees, Coram Deo Academy was well-represented. Out of 24 nominees, two students were selected from Coram Deo, a private, nondenominational Christian school with 21 high school seniors this year.
