In the category of some people never learn, an Argyle school district educator was recently arrested and charged with having an improper relationship with a student. The 30 year-old Justin resident was out on $5000 bail the following day, but will have to answer the charges in front of the school district and the county court by late January. According to an Argyle police affidavit of probable cause, the teacher sent a 16-year-old female student several text messages with sexual content in them and made sexual comments to her on the telephone. In addition, he had her sent to his classroom by a substitute teacher whereupon he made sexual advances toward the teenager. According to the affidavit, the teacher “touched her on the leg and kissed her on the ear and cheek. The victim said that he got behind her and grabbed her pigtails and pulled her toward him, acting out a sexual position.”

This has become an odious phenomenon that has occurred all too frequently from coast to coast. Teachers, both male and female are lusting after their underage students as though sexual flirtation was part of the curriculum. Again and again, we see teachers being arrested, tried and convicted of statutory rape and other forms of sexual impropriety. It’s tough enough to deal with sexual predators on the streets, but when they are working for the school system and being paid a salary and a benefit package as they pursue their victims, society needs to deal with them in the harshest terms possible. In this case, the victim said she had made many excuses to him in order to keep him at a distance. Yet, he continued to use his authority to find ways to get near her. The investigation is ongoing, but if he is found guilty of the charges, one this is certain; he should never be allowed back into a classroom.
