At this end of this month, my lovely, sweet, precious girl child, Grace, is turning 12. Usually, when I share this little fact with people who have already raised their children and successfully booted them out of the nest, I receive looks of pity, sympathetic pats on the hand and sage advice such as: “Don’t worry, it’ll get better,” “You’ll like her again when she’s 21,” or,
“You will survive this without ever having to don an orange jumpsuit with the words ‘Property of…’ written across the front.”

Our long awaited vacation to Dollywood was a mere eight days away!! We were all super stoked and toyed with the idea of stopping in Memphis either on the way there or on the way back. I wanted to see the hotel where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and Sun Records.
