It�s obvious that Art Senato can�t get enough baseball.

The Marcus head coach � who was recently named Coach of the Year on the Dallas Morning� News� All-Area Team � snuck away to Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Sunday to watch the Orioles host the Washington Nationals. Even amongst screaming fans and hot dog vendors, Senato still picked up a ringing cell phone to talk even more baseball.

Flower Mound is moving from one familiar playoff opponent to another.

The Jags � fresh off a sweep of District 6-5A rival Southlake Carroll in last weekend�s third round of the Class 5A playoffs � open another best-of-three series with El Paso Socorro on Friday in the regional semifinals. The Jags faced both teams a year ago, beating Socorro before losing to Carroll with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

Art Senato is in his first year as baseball coach at Marcus. And his team is already making history.

With their 5-1 win over Plano East in Game 3 of the Class 5A regional quarterfinals last Saturday, the Marauders have advanced to the regional semifinals for the first time in the school�s 23-year history. The team won the first outing 5-0 only to get sucker punched in Game 2, 13-3.

Guyer finally falls in first playoff run

Guyer head coach Johnny Kinzy tried hard to downplay his team�s success all season, citing that baseball is an underdog�s sport and at any time one team can beat another.

For a while there, though, it seemed like no team could beat the Wildcats. That was until Saturday, when Guyer lost 9-6 in Game 3 of a best-of-three series with Arlington Heights in the third round of the Class 4A playoffs. Guyer forced the decisive third game with a 4-3 win on Friday.

The Wildcats won their ninth game in a row and third of the postseason on Tuesday in a 10-2 drubbing of Granbury in the second round. They will face Arlington Heights in a best-of-three series, which started on Thursday.
