Working elections will be a hard sell

I didn't think that voting in Flower Mound could be any more interesting than most of our town elections. However, that was before I was the Election Judge for the Primary Election at the Flower Mound Municipal Courts Building for four precincts. We ran out of ballots! We had about 150 people in line ready to vote and waiting for ballots to be delivered.

I have written personal letters concerning difficulty in voting in Denton County to Commissioners Andy Eads, Bobbie Mitchell, and Cynthia White. That was three months ago. To date, none has either been acknowledged or answered my letter. That is just plain rude!

Wants experience in Probate Court

I am endorsing my son Steve Burgess, a candidate for District Judge. Steve graduated from Lewisville High School and attended law school at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, California. I am proud to say that he passed both the Texas Bar and the California Bar on his first try. For the last 14 years Steve has practiced all types of law, criminal, civil, family and bankruptcy in dederal court.

District Attorney guilty of inflation

I have attended several political forums and received mailers from Paul Johnson. I must say his ranting and raving about how many hundreds of felony cases he has tried makes me want to add stilts to my already chin deep waders. He proclaims to have collected $3,359,600.00 in bond forfeitures since taking office, an 80% increase.

I am a practicing attorney in Denton County and I am very familiar with all of the candidates in this race. For some reason your article only focused on Judge Collier and one of his opponents, Steve Burgess.

Unhappy about fourth term for mayor

Jody Smith�s service as Mayor to Flower Mound has been outstanding for the several reasons. Because of her leadership, we have not seen any increase in the town�s tax rate. We have seen a marked increase in our retail and commercial establishments thus adding to our sales tax coffers. We have seen the completion of our Community Activity Center. Fire Station # 4 is now open and fire station #5 under construction.

How about Flower Mound High?

For years, I've been following the sports pages of The News Connection, following high school sports, particularly Flower Mound High Girls School Soccer. It's extremely frustrating to see that issue after issue, Mr. Steve Gamel chooses to focus only on the Marcus girls� soccer team.

The article discusses the appropriate investigation the Texas Department of State Health Services is undertaking to determine if there is anything statistically significant to the number of childhood leukemia cases reported in Flower Mound.
