Working elections will be a hard sell

I didn't think that voting in Flower Mound could be any more interesting than most of our town elections. However, that was before I was the Election Judge for the Primary Election at the Flower Mound Municipal Courts Building for four precincts. We ran out of ballots! We had about 150 people in line ready to vote and waiting for ballots to be delivered.

Voter taking his case to court

I have written personal letters concerning difficulty in voting in Denton County to Commissioners Andy Eads, Bobbie Mitchell, and Cynthia White. That was three months ago. To date, none has either been acknowledged or answered my letter. That is just plain rude!

Wants experience in Probate Court

Two times in our family’s history, we’ve had to use a County
Probate Court concerning issues that were very important to us. We were
blessed both times to have competent judges on the bench that were very
knowledgeable and helped us through trying times.

Married to Judge Jake

I am proud to have been married for 34 years to Jake Collier. He is
the love of my life, father of our children, grandchildren, and my best
friend. Part of that love comes because of the respect I have for him.
Jake has worked hard all his life and I know better than anyone what is
in his heart.

Chooses Robison for Probate Court Judge

We urge you to support Bonnie Robison for Judge of the Probate
Court, in the GOP Primary. The most important elected officials to the
citizens of Denton County are judges. It is critical that the most
qualified candidates be selected. The Probate Court is a highly
specialized court that merits a highly experienced judge.

Vote for Robert Ramirez

I contacted Robert Ramirez a few months ago to represent me in
probate court. How fortunate I was that he was recommended to me. He
served me very well. He was extremely knowledgeable and perceptive.

A proud father endorses son

I am endorsing my son Steve Burgess, a candidate for District
Judge. Steve graduated from Lewisville High School and attended law
school at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, California. I am proud to
say that he passed both the Texas Bar and the California Bar on his
first try. For the last 14 years Steve has practiced all types of law,
criminal, civil, family and bankruptcy in dederal court.

Hiney-gate more laughable than serious

Again, (and I hope only one) a political junkie in Flower Mound is
causing us great humor and entertainment, but at a price. I speak, of
course, of the brainchild of "Hiney Gate" (otherwise known as a
hyper-reaction to a friendly butt-pinch, to
the politically uncouth like myself).

District Attorney guilty of inflation

I have attended several political forums and received mailers from
Paul Johnson. I must say his ranting and raving about how many hundreds
of felony cases he has tried makes me want to add stilts to my already
chin deep waders. He proclaims to have collected $3,359,600.00 in bond
forfeitures since taking office, an 80% increase.

Recommends Ramirez for Probate Judge

matched with his knowledge and Integrity, is a winning combination for
all of us.

Says Judge Collier has the experience

Last Saturday night, I attended a Republican Primary forum held for
County Judge Elections coming up on March 2. After listening to Steve
Burgess challenge the incumbent Judge Jake Collier, I had to ask
myself; why is Burgess even running?

Judge Collier knows the law

I am writing to share with the community my support of Judge Jake
Collier. He is presently running for re-election as judge of the 158th
Judicial District Court of Denton County. Collier is a judge that is
respected by many other attorneys. When attorneys are asked to rank
judges on such items as efficiency, knowledge of the law, fairness and
treatment of witnesses and attorneys, he is ranked at the top.

Councilman addresses gas drilling issues

There have been several emails and much talk about natural gas
operations in Flower Mound lately. And I truly believe it is good that
people are taking an interest in their community and getting more
involved. On January 21, the Town Council voted on two items that have
generated a lot of attention.

Urges reelection of Judge Collier

I practice law in Denton County. My clients and I have appeared in
cases in front of Judge Jake Collier of the 158th District Court. We
have found him to be a very competent judge who treats all parties
fairly and impartially. I would strongly urge his re-election.

Who’s David Moraine?

After I read the article entitled “Judge Collier- consistency in
applying the law” in your Friday, January 22 edition, I was moved to
write you. I am a practicing attorney in Denton County and I am very
familiar with all of the candidates in this race. For some reason your
article only focused on Judge Collier and one of his opponents, Steve
Burgess.

Unhappy about fourth term for mayor

In February 2008, you wrote an article about Mayor Smith’s running
for what she described as her last term. Her words were: “I’d like to
encourage other folks to consider taking the opportunity to plan to run
for mayor because I’d like to call my third term, my last term,” she
said. “I know that some will say the people decide on term limits by
voting.

Wants Mayor Smith reelected

Jody Smith’s service as Mayor to Flower Mound has been outstanding
for the several reasons. Because of her leadership, we have not seen
any increase in the town’s tax rate. We have seen a marked increase in
our retail and commercial establishments thus adding to our sales tax
coffers. We have seen the completion of our Community Activity Center.
Fire Station # 4 is now open and fire station #5 under construction.

High Girls School Soccer. It's extremely frustrating to see that issue
after issue, Mr. Steve Gamel chooses to focus only on the Marcus girls’
soccer team.

investigation the Texas Department of State Health Services is
undertaking to determine if there is anything statistically significant
to the number of childhood leukemia cases reported in Flower Mound.
